THE Red ROOM! - A Man's Room!

So fancy, frilly and highly decorated is fun....but sometimes....
LESS is MORE!

I've noticed working with MEN that strong colors and small accents make BIG impressions on them.

When a man says all he needs is his TV...he means it.
"Flowers...naaaaaahh!

Candles.....nahhhhh!

Accessories....What does that mean???
GIVE HIM HIS TV!
GIVE HIM HIS IDOLS!
GIVE HIM HIS NINTENDO 360 or WHATEVER THE HECK THE NEWEST SYSTEM IS!
Plain and simple...men are easy!
Want to make a man happy...you actually give him exactly what he SAYS he wants!

This is the Red Room!

(I've Got To Get a Better Camera....ugh!)

ANYWAY.....HOPE YOU LIKE! : )

Originally antique wooden furniture- desk, end tables and entertainment system...I brought it back to life simply by painting them all black and adding new knobs. Ta daaaaa...modern furniture for the cost of a quart of black paint.

Each section of the room celebrates an idol in this man's life.

BIGGIE --BOB MARLEY--MICHAEL JORDAN-- SCARFACE Al Pacino

All the posters kept the same theme - black and white with a hint of red
Horrible Pictures..but you get the point until Im able to upgrade! lol

He can relax with Bob Marley - End table, modern glass lamp, black bedding against a Strong Red wall. The room had a rounded ceiling on one end. The color really allowed the curve to be accented.

Watch tv with Biggie. Both speakers painted black and turned into end tables by placing red and white accent candles atop them.

Curtains were very important in this room. The sun would rise on this side of the house very early, interrupting sleep so we needed something dark and heavy to help absorb that morning light. The stores didnt have the perfect red i wanted.....SO I MADE SOME CURTAINS THAT WERE THE PERFECT RED! Detailed with white stitching, I felt that these curtains were simple enough but spoke loudly. He loved them too! Not to mention the material only ran me about $20! Who can beat that!?

Handle business by Scarface. I dont think any man's room is complete without Scarface memorabilia. Wooden computer desk painted simple black was all this corner needed.

Last but not least...enter the room to the sight of Jordan. Simple end table painted black with a display bowl of rocks and candles. Keeping the floors wood made all the furniture POP!

THAT HOW YOU DECORATE A MAN'S ROOM!

Lights! Camera! Action!

Growing up with the name Crystal Starr was fun! I always had some little trinket, picture or souvenir to associate with my name. I've always felt like a person's bedroom SHOULD be the biggest expression of THEM because you spend so much of your down time there....SOOOO can you imagine what Crystal Starr's room was like when she lived back home with her parents???
This was my door way and ceiling! I made it look like a film strip!

(FYI:painting overhead is.. ..the ultimate work out!)
What Girl Doesnt Love Her Own SpotLight!

Custom Diamond Painted Wall!
Even When its a mess....Its still the most fab thing ya eva did see!
Turquiose has always been one of my favorite colors. With such a uniquely shaped room, it seemed ideal to accentuate all of its funky curves.
This room was a work in progress. My little sister now lives in here. It was too cute and hasnt lived out its course yet.....hmmmm which makes me wonder....whats next for "Kelly Rooster's" self expressive room!

What SWEET [16] DREAMS are made of!

So life is always busy and its on to the next project. Bridgeview Yacht Club is among the nicest of venues to hold any type of affair. This week it had the pleasure of holding Britni's Sweet 16. Britni came to us not too long ago with the idea to make her party different from the rest. However, with a black white and red theme she didnt know how far the imagination could be stretched.......we did!

Bridgeview is very elegant. Dark hard wood floors, crown molding....the works! This set up would be PERFECT...for a wedding or a banquet.....but we were trying to throw a hot sweet 16!!!
1st: attention must be drawn AWAY from the detail of elegance and back to the basics!

THE DANCE FLOOR

2nd: Figure out a way to showcase this small dancefloor WITHOUT making it look closed and congested. Find a way to give the teens privacy....but not TOO MUCH privacy

(if you know what i mean!)

3rd: Light it up and make it Gorgeous!

So thats just what we did- Draped the dancefloor with curtains from ceiling to floor. Two sides had three curtains each drawn to their centers. The head of the dance floor had only one curtain. We still wanted it to be inviting to all. Toward the back of the dance floor ENTERTAINMENT TONITE set up an awesome front board, plasma and spandex truss display. Add color changing LED lighting in a stage box, elations( lights programed by a lighting technician during the entire party), a stargazer(twinkling stars saturate the space) and a couple of black lights.....ta daaaaaa!

Britni's ultra cool and chic Sweet 16!

-I only wish my camera didnt have flash-these pics only do half its justice!

Gabby's Grown Up Room!

The years at home before college are fun....cutesy colored rooms, butterflies, hearts and all things sweet.

BUT-What do you make of the space that doesn't define your post college years???

Gabby's room was pink with green trim (cute...i guess), however she was looking for a more mature space to inspire the remainder of her stay at home.

CRYSTAL STARR to the rescue!!! ; )

I came up with it as I went! I love to sneak hidden details in all my walls.....

CAN YOU FIND IT! (look at the finished wall pic...)

Color at my own will! Where ever it looked best for the next color to go! Good music and good comapany make for good inspiration.
Gabby was a big help!

Gabby painted the wall camel next to what USED to be the closet. I finished up the black trim.

First-The pink and green needed to be modified. Still keeping those colors in the back of my mind.....I painted the walls camel tan and accented them with a black trim. -Oh so sophisticated!

I then gutted out the closet, took the doors off the hinges and custom made a desk for her office purposes. Painted it lime green to jump past the camel walls and black trim (and keeping the green in the color scheme.) Hung a pearl chandelier and it turned into a fabulous work space.

I always try to add the most personal touches where ever I can and fortunately I was able to add a big one in this room. A custom designed pink, black, grey, green, and brown wall was the plan. 7 Hours later...it was a reality!

As for her 100+ shoe collection- I installed 6 floating shelves to the wall and decoratively displayed ALL of them!

Gabby also happened to have an extensive bag collection. I decided to make a work of art out of those too! Staggered hooks on a wall and 25 pocket books later, we had a wall of art!

Add some candles, pillows, a picture here and and there and we have a Perfectly Grown UP Room!
